Before we conclude the year, the PTA is in need of the following volunteers for the 2017-18 school year:

(1)    For after school clubs next year, we need a volunteer to help us cover club dismissal only (not attendance and dismissal) from 3:15 pm to 3:45  pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the times that we run clubs.  We will likely run one 6-8 week session of clubs starting in September and concluding in November.  If we can’t find someone to cover dismissal on Tuesdays and Thursdays for this first club period, it will affect our ability to provide after school clubs.  There are incentives for helping us with this program.  If you are interested, please email ASE Coordinator Moni Sears at [email protected] or Club Connection Coordinator Norma Maiz at [email protected].

(2)    For the yearbook, we need a volunteer to work with fifth grade parents to help create and collect fifth grade yearbook advertisements.  Please email Yearbook Coordinator Norma Maiz at [email protected] if you can help.

(3)    We need a Vice President of Sponsorship who can administer our already-built Tiger Partner Program.  This position entails soliciting sponsors and ensuring they are properly recognized throughout the year.  For more information please email next year’s PTA President, Debbie Bresnahan at [email protected].

(4)    We need a Vice President of Fundraising who can manage the logistics of the Tiger Trek event, order and distribute Tiger Trek t-shirts and help the PTA raise money throughout the year. For more information please email next year’s PTA President, Debbie Bresnahan at [email protected].

Tomorrow, May 19, there is one final fifth grade Krispy Kreme doughnut sale from 7:30 am to 8:00 am, in front of the school.  Doughnuts are $7 per dozen or $1 each.  The fifth grade thanks you for your doughnut purchases over the year.

This summer, the perimeter fence along the south side of the school will be replaced with a black aluminum fence.  This investment, which will cost just under $50,000.00, will complete the replacement of Grady’s perimeter fence.  We are not replacing the west side fence that faces the ball park as that was never part of the plan.  The new fence will further beautify the school (and is harder to climb too) and we hope that when you return in August, you will be able to enjoy and appreciate the new fence, which is the result of years of fundraising.

You may have seen the commemorative fence panel plaques along the fence.   If you would like to purchase your own fence panel plaque to commemorate your student or family’s time at Grady, please click here:  Purchase a Panel.   To see pictures of other fence panel plaques, click here:   Fence Panel Plaques.

After School Clubs have now concluded for the year.

We are still in need of help with after school club dismissal next year, in need of help with the yearbook, and in need of a VP of Sponsorship and a VP of Fundraising.  Please click here for more details:  Volunteers Needed.  For more information, please email next year’s PTA President, Debbie Bresnahan at [email protected].

Next week there are a number of activities.  Check her for details:   End of Year Events.

We need volunteers to help set up chairs under the Pavilion for the K-4 Awards Ceremony on May 24. If you could please spare a few minutes after drop-off to help set up chairs, please click here:  Chair Set Up Volunteers.  Thank you very much to all of you who help us set up for school events.

Mrs. Dosal and Michael Gaines

Grady Elementary PTA VP of Volunteers, Michael Gaines, won the Hillsborough County PTA Superman Award for his work in building our Grady PTA website, helping Grady PTA be able to accept online and credit card payments, and for building from scratch the online ASE club signup system.   Notably, Michael is also responsible for procuring the current version of the Grady Tiger mascot/logo (the playful growling tiger) that adorns our school, t-shirts and website.  Michael was completely surprised to have won the award.  The Grady PTA, however, is glad that the Hillsborough County PTA has recognized Michael’s innovation and hard work.  To see pictures of both the Hillsborough PTA award ceremony and Mrs. Dosal’s presentation of the award to Michael before the Spring Musical, please click here:  PTA Awards

Additionally, Grady PTA also won a Volunteer Award and a Golden Participation Award for parent and grandparent involvment in the school.  Congratulations to our PTA.
