PTA Updates

The registration period for the Winter Session of After School Enrichment Clubs is now open.  Please click here for more information:  ASE Clubs.

The Thanksgiving Lunch is Tuesday, November 15.  We really need, and appreciate, volunteers to help set and clear tables during the luncheon.  If you can come before or after your child’s lunch period to help out, we would very much appreciate it.  To volunteer to help with the Thanksgiving Luncheon, please click here:  Volunteer at Thanksgiving Luncheon.  If you can’t stay for the whole time listed in the blocks of time, just say what you can do in the comment section.  Please remember to log your volunteer hours at the front desk when you sign into school.  Thank you so much for helping make our Thanksgiving Luncheon a success.

The PTA is again sponsoring Gingerbread Shopping for students.  Gingerbread Shopping will take place i'm November 28 to December 2 from 7:30 am until 8:00 am in the Media Center. Volunteers are needed to help students select their Gingerbread Shopping items in a timely manner and escort students to the payment area.  We need many volunteers to help students make their selections quickly and help ensure that students arrive on time to class.  If you would be so kind to volunteer, please click here:  Gingerbread Shopping Volunteers

Thank you to everyone who submitted Box Tops for the first part of the school year.  The  first batch, submitted November 1, raised  $153.70 for Grady students.  We are starting a new Box Tops Contest that begins today and concludes on February 10, 2017.  Please send your Box Tops into your child’s class in clear Ziploc-style bags with a maximum of 50 per bag.  Please include a slip of paper with your child’s name, grade level and the number of box tops. The grade level with the most box tops collected when the contest concludes wins a popsicle party.  With 475 students, Grady can make $1,900.00 if each family submits just 10 Box Tops per student each month between now and the end of the contest.

Grady submitted 22 pieces of student artwork to the Hillsborough County Reflections Art Contest today.  The contest will feature a gallery day and awards ceremony that takes place in January.  We are very proud of the quality artwork that Grady students have submitted.  Notably, we are looking for a new Reflections Chair for next year.  Your undersigned VP of Communications has chaired this program for two years and wants to pass the baton.  If you have an interest in running this program next year, please email me.  Running the program entails ordering ribbons, coordinating with the professional judge, working with the art teacher to design the theme and program deadlines (and letting the art teacher do all the heavy lifting in terms of creating the art), celebrating the artists with a party and ribbons, and then delivering the featured pieces to the County for the county contest.  It’s fun and easy and a great way to encourage student artists at our school.

Tomorrow is Veterans Day and there is no school.  Happy Veterans Day, a day early, to anyone who has served in the U.S. military forces.   Thank you for your service and sacrifice for the betterment of our country.
