Ms. Hillary Trupp, fifth grade teacher, has been named Grady Teacher of the Year 2016-17. Congratulations to Mr. Michael Bruce, Academically Gifted Program teacher, for being named Ida S. Baker Diversity Educator of the Year. And Congratulations to Ms. Karen Taylor, Front Office, for being named Non-Instructional Support Person of the Year. Each winner has brought their best efforts and utilized their talents to serve the students at Grady. A hearty congratulations to each of them.
** The Ida S. Baker Award: Ida S. Baker was a teacher and founding principal of Cape Coral High School. She was known for her commitment to providing minority youth with access to excellent education. After founding the school, Ms. Baker went on to serve as a deputy superintendent for the Florida Department of Education. She was considered a pioneer in her field and a fierce advocate for equal education for minorities. Later, a school and a teaching award were named for her. The award goes to someone who shows a commitment to meeting the needs of minority students. Ms. Baker is pictured below.
