Jump Rope for Heart and More

February 13, 2014

Dear Members of the Grady Elementary Community,

We hope you have a wonderful Valentine’s Day tomorrow.  The Fifth Grade Parents will be selling Krispy Kreme doughnuts in front of the school from 7:30 am to 8:00 am, so please bring cash or check if you would like to buy some.  They are $7/box or $1/doughnut.  The Kindergarten Team will be hosting a Valentine’s Day Program tomorrow in the lunchroom, so parking may be tight.  Please don’t park at the post office across the street from Grady or in the fire lane in front of the school (it is marked with "no parking at any time" signs).

Tomorrow is the final day to submit Box Tops for the Box Top Holiday Competition.  Please send your box tops into your child’s class in clear Ziplocs with a maximum of 50 per bag. Please include a slip of paper with your child’s name, grade level and the number of box tops. The grade level with the most box tops collected as of February 14, 2014, wins a party.

Next Friday, February 21, 2014, Grady students will participate in Jump Rope For Heart, a program to benefit the American Heart Association.  We need volunteers to hold ropes and distribute water and Gogurts (supplied by the PTA).  If you would like to volunteer to help Coach Murrell with Jump Rope For Heart, please sign up here:  http://gradytigers.org/index.cfm?p=jump-rope-for-heart.  Please volunteer for a block of time.  You will see on the volunteer form that we, the PTA, estimated when we think certain classes may be jumping, but the actual time that certain classes will be participating in Jump Rope For Heart is subject to change.

We have wonderful news to report.  The Ruiz Family and New York Life have made a made a wonderfully generous donation of $3,770!  Thank you so very much to the Ruiz Family and New York Life!  They are Leaders of the Pack!

Our PTA is hard at work putting all of the donations to use.  We are continuing to fund grants for academic materials and are we are moving forward with the first phase of the wrought iron fence to replace the chain link fence around the school.  We just funded grants for speech therapy and staff appreciation, and we just funded more iPads for the school.  The feedback we have received from parents and teachers is that they want security, educational enhancements and technology for the students, and we are working to fund projects in each of these areas.

Thank you for your time in reading this email.  If you have any questions or comments, please reply to Ellen Lyons, VP of Communications at [email protected].

Sincerely,

Grady Elementary PTA
