PTA Updates

Dear Members of the Grady Elementary Community,

Happy Holidays!  We have lots of news for you in this update.

First, if Grady Elementary teachers and staff are on your holiday cheer list, you are in luck.  The Grady Elementary School website now includes specific teacher and staff member profiles.  You can see these profiles at http://gradytigers.org/gradesThe profiles tell you about your teacher or staff member’s favorite hobbies, drinks and restaurants.  If a teacher or staff member on your holiday cheer list  has filled out a profile form, you can review it to get ideas for ways to brighten your teacher or staff member’s holidays.  Moreover, the website is mobile friendly, so you’ll be able to view your teacher’s favorite things even if you are out and about.

Next, the Grady Elementary Winter Concert is Thursday, December 19, 2013.  There are many events taking place on campus between 5 pm and 7:30 pm that evening.  Here is a link to the event timeline and information about which students will be performing at the Concert itself:  http://gradytigers.org/2013/12/winter-concert  At the Winter Concert, each class will present a class project at a silent auction.Price Winter Project  Several classes have already completed their class projects; pictures of the completed projects can be found at:  http://gradytigers.org/winter-projects.  The silent auction will begin at 5 pm in the Pavilion and end 5 minutes before the conclusion of the Winter Concert performance.  The highest bidders in the silent auction will be announced immediately after the conclusion of the Winter Concert.  If you think you’ve bid the highest, please stay a bit because you will be able to pay and take home the project that evening.  Both cash and check are accepted.   If you are the highest bidder but not present at the end of the evening, you’ll be notified by telephone.

The Grady Elementary PTA is also holding a donation-only bake sale during the Winter Concert.  Please help us prepare for the bake sale by bringing in homemade or store bought cookies, cakes, candies or other goodies to the school’s front office between December 18 and December 19 at 2 pm.  If possible, please individually wrap the goodies.   Please come by the Pavilion and look at the amazing holiday treats during the Winter Concert.

Uniform SwapAlso under the Pavilion during the Winter Concert, we will have a free uniform swap.  If you have uniforms that no longer fit your students, please bring them to the school’s front office from December 17 through December 19 and give them to Mrs. Taylor.  We will organize all the uniforms by size and make them available for free at the Winter Concert.  You do not have to donate a uniform in order to receive a uniform.

Finally, Grady Girl Scouts are collecting canned goods for Metropolitan Ministries.  There will be large barrels for the collection of canned goods at the Winter Concert.

We hope that you are excited about the improvements to the Grady Elementary website and upcoming Winter Concert.  Some of the website improvements resulted directly from PTA member emails and comments.  If you have ideas for improving our school’s website or questions about any of the information in this update, please respond by reply email.  Thanks for taking the time to read this update.  We look forward to seeing you at the Winter Concert.

Sincerely,

Grady Elementary PTA
