Welcome New Grady Tiger Families!

Below are the registration documents needed for the 2020-2021 school year. Please read the registration letter that applies to your family and follow the directions given. If you are unable to print or provide the files electronically, you may come to the school for a paper registration packet. Please call Grady Elementary at 813-872-5325 to set up a time to pick up the registration packet.  Once your packet is complete, contact Heather Tanski, our Data Processor, to set up a time to register your child. Teacher and Staff Appreciation - May 4-8th

Teacher Appreciation Week

Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week is coming up next week, May 4-8th. Unfortunately, we won't be able to honor our teachers and staff in person as we normally would, but we still want to ensure that they feel our gratitude for everything they've done and continue to do for our students. 

Given the unprecedented nature of this year’s event, we are asking for some help from our Grady students and families. If your student would like to mail a card with personal words of appreciation or a gift card for the teachers/staff, you can send via email or mail a card directly to the school before May 7th as our teachers will be stopping by the school to clean out their classrooms next week. Please clearly mark the name of the teacher/staff member on the card to ensure it is routed to the correct person. Mail cards to Grady Elementary School, 3910 Morrison Ave, Tampa, FL 33629 (please do not personally drop off any cards or gifts at the school). You can also send egift cards via email, but we encourage you to confirm the email address and give your teacher/staff member a heads up so that the email does not get deleted or lost in junk mail. 

The PTA will provide our teachers and staff with a goodie bag on May 5th. The goodie bag will contain a coupon for a lunch at Wright's that can be picked up at their convenience, a Grady baseball hat, an Rtic tumbler with Grady logo, baseball cookies, crackerjacks, as well as a note of thanks for all they do in a drawstring backpack.

Tiger Talk Update 04.29.20

Don't miss the chance to buy this year's yearbook! The deadline to order online is this Thursday. Please visit www.strawbridge.net and enter code yb112045. We will provide instructions for picking up the yearbook in mid to late May.  
 

Tiger King Mike Exotic is no ordinary principal!!! Click here to watch the amazing video where he shows the future site of our new tiger habitat - a track!! Proceeds from the Grady PTA's Tiger King of Auctions will be used to provide educational opportunities for our students and help us build our track. We have already raised $60,000 toward our track and are only $10,000 away from our goal!

Bidding starts May 2nd at 6:00 pm, and closes on May 9th. Bidding will take place online via Qtego (https://qtego.net/qlink/gradytigers). Register now! 

Please note that registration requires you to enter a credit card, but you will not be charged unless you win an auction item on May 9th.

Centra Care is still open and taking every precaution to keep you safe and help you feel better, fast. In addition to following the guidelines set forth by the CDC, most prescriptions and over the counter medications are available onsite, so you can skip an extra trip to the pharmacy.   • Volunteer Hours (for logging volunteer hours of at least 2x the membership number)
  • Arts in Education (for Grady’s Doodad Sculpture Contest)
  • Health & Safety (for Grady’s Walk to School Wednesdays)

Congratulations to Grady’s individual nominees: Mr. Mike Campbell (Principal of the Year), Ms. Melissa Carl (Instructional Person of the Year), Ms. Heather Tanski (Non-instructional Person of the Year), and Mr. Brad Smith (Volunteer of the Year).  We are proud of you and how well you represent our school!

This year we are again offering the Teacher Tailored supply kit program which offers pre-packed, school supply boxes filled with the exact items requested by your child's teacher. Supply orders include the exact colors, quantities, and brands your teachers have approved for class. Buy your school supplies early and avoid crowded stores and long waits for shipping this summer.

Box Tops
Don't forget to scan or clip your Box Tops. Remember to scan your receipts into the Box Top app and send a picture of your screenshot with the amount you have collected to Jena Ali at [email protected] to get credit. If you have digital receipts that you can't print and scan (such as from Instacart or store pickups), you can email your receipt to Receipts@boxtop4education.com from the email associated with your Box Tops account. Help us reach our Box Tops goal!

Happy Earth Day! We hope all our families are staying safe and healthy. Thank you to all the families that participated in our virtual spirit week. It was great to see the photos and videos of our students on Facebook!

Make sure that you sign up on Qtego to participate in The Tiger King of Auctions. Bidding starts May 2nd at 6:00 pm and concludes on May 9th at 9:30 pm. Follow our PTA Facebook Page to participate in our online party on May 9th from 6:00 - 9:30 pm.

School Supply Kits for the 2020-21 school year are now available for sale. Skip the stress of back to school shopping and order online at www.shopttkits.com (account number 36155). Place your order by June 5, 2020 and your student's school supplies will be delivered directly to their classroom.

Please note an important change to the weekly Grab-and-Go meal program. Families will now be asked to provide your child’s name and student ID number (lunch number) to staff on site. If your child is under school age, or is in another school system, you must provide each child’s name and date of birth in order to receive food. We want to ensure all students who need a nutritious meal have access, so our district is implementing new technology to better track our meal distribution. This process may mean wait times to receive Grab-and-Go meals could be a little longer. You can help speed up the process by writing your student's information on a piece of paper with large print— and holding it up to the window.

Grady Auction Update
Hey there all you cool cats and kittens! You are invited to The Tiger King of Auctions. Bidding starts May 2nd at 6:00 pm on Qtego. The Tiger King of Auctions closes on May 9th with an online Facebook party from 6:00 - 9:30 pm. Please make sure to like and follow our PTA Facebook Page to participate in the online party.

Click on Grady's Online Auction to preview some items that will be open to bid on May 2.  You must register through Qtego in order to preview and bid on these items. We know that these are challenging times and we are all in this together.  Proceeds from this auction will be used to provide educational opportunities for our students and help us build our track. We have already raised $60,000 towards our track and are only $10,000 away from our goal!

ASE Club Updates
Since school closures have been extended until May 1st, our remaining ASE clubs will be completed online. The majority of club vendors have already sent emails directly or via the ASE Coordinator with instructions for how to access the online clubs. Please note that the Basketball, Lacrosse, and Flag Football Clubs run by Protential Sports have requested an extension and will be sending emails this week. If you don't hear from the vendor or ASE Club Coordinator by April 24th, please email [email protected].  

Yearbook Sales Extended
The Yearbook has been submitted for proof and online yearbook sales have been extended to April 30th. Yearbooks are hardcover and cost $30.  Please visit www.strawbridge.net to purchase and enter online code yb112045.

Important Changes to Grab-and-Go Meal Distribution

Dear Families,

We are making some important changes to the way your student will receive their week’s worth of Grab-and-Go meals on Wednesdays.

This Wednesday, families should be prepared with specific student information in order to receive the meals.

If your child is in our school district, you will be asked to provide your child’s name and student ID number to staff on site. This is the same number as your child's lunch number. You can also find your child’s student ID number on Edsby.

If your child is under school age, or is in another school system, you must provide each child’s name and date of birth in order to receive food.

We want to ensure all students who need a nutritious meal have access, so our district is implementing new technology to better track our meal distribution. 

This process may mean wait times to receive Grab-and-Go meals could be a little longer. You can help speed up the process by writing your student's information on a piece of paper with large print— and holding it up to the window.

Estamos haciendo algunos cambios en la forma en que su estudiante recibirá las comidas de Grab—and-Go los miércoles.

Este miércoles, las familias deben estar preparadas con información específica del estudiante para recibir las comidas.
