Our Winter Concerts are taking place this week! This year, we are changing our format and will be hosting three separate concerts. The dates of the concerts are:

  • 1st & 2nd Grade: Wednesday, December 5th at 6 pm
  • 3rd, 4th & 5th Grade Chorus: Thursday, December 6th at 6 pm
  • Pre-K, Kindergarten and ESE Students: Friday, December 7th at 8 am
It is Family Dinner Night at PDQ on both Wednesday and Thursday night, so please pick up dinner and mention you are with Grady Elementary. There will also be Dippin Dots available for sale at the concerts on Wednesday and Thursday nights to benefit the 5th grade end of year events. 
 
We need volunteers to help us set up the chairs before the concerts and breakdown the chairs after the events. Please click on http://gradytigers.org/index.cfm?p=winter-concert-2018-volunteer-sign-up to sign up for a shift. Shifts are available on Dec 5th (setup and breakdown), Dec 6th (setup only) and Dec 7th (breakdown only). 
Students in Grades 1-5 will meet in the Music Room 26 between 5 and 5:45 pm on their concert day. Pre-K and Kindergarten students will go to their classrooms as normal on Friday, Dec 7th. 
 
All Chorus students, in ALL grades, will be in HOLIDAY attire
  • Your child's holiday best! Greens, Reds, Blues, Golds, Silvers....all are welcome
  • Please NO shorts
  • Please NO light up necklaces or large head pieces (antlers, hats, bows). We would like everyone to be seen on stage, as well as be able to see. 
The schedule for December 5th & 6th is:  
  • 1:30 - 2:30 pm - Sign up for a 30 minute shift to set up chairs at Winter Concert Volunteers (Needed on both Dec 5th & Dec 6th)
  • 4:00 - 8:00 pm - Family Dinner Night at PDQ (Make sure to mention you are with Grady Elementary)
  • 5:00 - 5:45 pm - Students must meet in the Music Room 26 
  • 5:00 - 5:45 pm - Art Fair Project viewing in Cafeteria (details below)
  • 5:00 pm - 5th Grade Dippin Dots Sale
  • 5:30 pm - General PTA Meeting (only on Dec 6th)
  • 6:00 pm - Winter Concert Starts
  • 6:45 pm - Concert concludes, volunteers needed to help put chairs away.  Sign up for a 30 minute shift at Winter Concert Volunteers (Needed only on Dec 5th)

Art Fair Project Viewing

The artists of Grady Elementary have been studying Color Theory, Hispanic Heritage, and Proportion during this first semester of school.  Grady Elementary students will be presenting a Winter Art Show, which will be on display during the week of the Winter Concerts.  The art will be available, in the cafeteria, for viewing from 4:00 - 5:30 pm on Wednesday, December 5th before the 1st and 2nd grade Winter Concert begins.  The exhibit will continue to hang in the cafeteria for the remainder of the week.  Students whose artwork will be on display will receive a special invitation that will be sent home, however, anyone is welcome to come enjoy the exhibit and witness the exemplary artistry blooming at Grady.

Grady Elementary is running a food drive to benefit End 68 Hours of Hunger of Hillsborough County. Donations will be collected from December 3rd to December 19th. Please send donations in with your child and they will place them in the donation box in their classroom.

We look forward to seeing our families at Grady's Thanksgiving Lunch tomorrow, Wednesday, November 14th! Make sure that you bring a photo ID and allow time to sign in and receive a visitor's pass from the front office.

We still need your help volunteering at the lunch! Please click on Thanksgiving Lunch Volunteer to sign up. We would love your help, even if you can't sign up for the full hour. Please write in the comments when you are available to help or if you have to arrive late/leave early so you can attend your child's lunch.

Tiger Trek

Thank you to all of the families that have donated so far! We are still accepting donations through November 30th. Money can be collected through the envelope provided or online donations are accepted here. The class with the most donations overall will win a Yogurtology Yogurt Party and the class with the most donations in each grade will win a Popsicle Party. In addition, the top students overall will win the following1st place – 3 $100 certificates from Bricks 4 Kidz that can be used towards camps or birthday party; 2nd place – 1 Ukulele and $179 certificate for 1 month of lessons from Tampa Music School; and 3rd place - $50 game play from Top Golf.

Grady Auction

Join us for our totally rad 80's themed auction on Saturday, March 9th. This adult only event will be held at Christ the King from 6:00 - 10:00 pm.

Got used markers? ColorCycle them at Grady

What is Crayola ColorCycle? Crayola’s latest sustainability initiative designed to repurpose markers, highlighters and dry erase markers. All marker brands are accepted. 

How do I help? Collect markers and drop them off in the front office or your student can give them to our art teacher, Debonique Grigsby.

Grady PTA Membership
Thank you to all of the families that have already signed up to join the Grady PTA! You can still sign up/renew your PTA membership online by clicking PTA Membership. Membership is only $6 for 1 person or $10 for 2 people. High membership allows us to participate in PTA programs such as Reflections Art. Signing up for the PTA does not commit you to any volunteering (although we always love having our families volunteer at the school!)
Makeup fall pictures will be taken on Wednesday, November 7th. Please see the attached form for additional information and keep in mind that all envelopes and money must be turned in by Tuesday, November 6th. 
Thanksgiving Lunch

Our Thanksgiving Lunch will be held on Wednesday, November 14th in the Grady Cafeteria. Below is a copy of the schedule and the Thanksgiving Lunch form so that you can make reservations. 

We need your help volunteering at the lunch! Please click on Thanksgiving Lunch Volunteer to sign up. There are 1 hour shifts and and we need help to guide parents to their tables, maintain the tables clean, guide parents to where they can put their trash and make sure table is presentable for next group.

Grady PTA supports End 68 Hours of Hunger’s upcoming Tampa Bay Food Truck Rally and Silent Auction.  68 Hours of Hunger provides weekend meals to feed children. Right now, they are feeding more than 140 children a week.  Let’s support their good works and enjoy some tasty treats, too!  Thank you for supporting Grady PTA’s friends.

Please join us at the Tampa Bay Food Truck Rally,  Sunday, November 4, from 10:30 am to 2 pm at Hyde Park Presbyterian Church, 1309 W. Swann Ave., Tampa, FL 33606.  There will be food trucks for all tastes and lots of family fun.

Wednesday - "Turn your back on drugs day" by wearing your clothes backwards

Thursday - Turn in posters for "Say No to Drugs" poster contest.  Posters must be on unlined 8.5" x 11" and in landscape position.  Posters must relate to the theme "Drug Free Me" and drawn with markers, paints and/or crayons. Posters must be original - no cutting and pasting of pictures or stickers. Each class winner will receive a free kid's meal from Outback. 

Friday - School Spirt Day - wear school spirit shirts

Volunteers needed Friday, October 26th from 4pm - 9pm. 

We need your help to make this year's Fall Festival an incredible experience for our children. The Festival will be held from 5pm - 8pm.
