A Message from Principal Kristine Dosal:

Dear Parents,

This school year we are requiring elementary students to establish a unique password for the computer and software programs. We are sending you this communication to inform you about the requirement for secure passwords.

In Hillsborough County we strive to be clear about the safeguards we have in place to protect student data. One of those safeguards is for each student to complete challenge questions and set their own unique password.  Students. choose and answer any three of the seven challenge questions from the list provided. The Challenge questions are only used as verification if the student forgets their password and needs to reset it.

You Can assist your student by helping them with their responses to the challenge questions. These challenge questions will let students manage their own password resets. Resetting a password is a skill they will need as a digital learner and interact with technology.

As students create unique passwords in elementary schools this year, the curriculum software programs they use will also transition to using this same password. The goal is to protect student data and personal information and provide greater ease of use by having the student use the Same password far all applications, i.e. Edsby, MyOn, The more students use this password the easier this process will became for them

Protecting the personal information of our students in a secure and responsible way is at the heart of our efforts to provide a richer and more dynamic digital learning experience for all students. We appreciate your support in this effort.

Please print and fill out the attached form (click here: Printable Password Form) and return it to your child’s teacher as soon as possible.

Sincerely,

Kris Dosal

Come to the Grady Elementary Fall Festival on FRIDAY, October 23 from 5 pm to 7:30 on Campus.  Teachers and parent volunteers are working together to provide you with wonderful family entertainment.  There will be two inflatable play areas: a giant inflatable obstacle course with a slide and a bounce house. There will be a funny photo booth, snow cones, popcorn, hot dogs and baked goods.  Most importantly there will be Games, Games and more Games!!   The games include: the Doughnut Chomp, the Pumpkin Toss, Skee Ball, Basketball, Pumpkin Putt-Putt, Pin the Tail on the Cat, Pumpkin Stacking and even an R2D2-themed game of Operation.  Prizes will be given to each game player.  Also, there will be hair and nail painting booths, face painting, temporary tattoo booths, scary feel and mystery boxes.  Hours of fun, food and family time.

Admission to the festival itself is free for children and adults, but the games, food, bounce houses and photo booth cost money.  Without a wristband, games are $1 each and so are food items, except for the donation-only bake sale, which benefits the fifth grade.

You can purchase a wristband for your child that entitles each child to unlimited games, bouncing, snow cones and popcornWristbands are just $20 for the first child and $15 for each additional wristband.  This is a substantial discount.  To purchase a wristband please print and return the attached form -Wristband Order Form - with a check payable to Grady PTA or drop by the front of the school on Tuesday or Wednesday from 7:30 am until 8:30 am to pay by cash or credit card.  Pick up of all wristbands will be on the night of the Fall Festival at the PTA table.

Please purchase your wristband today and come out to enjoy our wonderful Fall Festival.

To volunteer at the Fall Festival, please send an email to VP of Volunteers, Chely Sierra at [email protected], or contact your child’s teacher.

We need two kinds of volunteers for the Fall Festival. Each class will be sponsoring a booth and we need parents to run the booths. Parents, please contact your child's homeroom teacher or homeroom parent to volunteer for booth spots.

Also, the PTA also needs volunteers to run the big items such as the bounce houses, grill, popcorn, food booth and snow cone machine. To volunteer for these positions please email: [email protected]

Grady Elementary is participating in the Reflections Art Contest, a national art competition sponsored by the PTA.  The theme of this contest is "Let Your Imagination Fly," and all visual arts entries must relate to the theme of flying,  meaning that visual arts that depict flying bugs, planes, rockets or unicorns are all acceptable subjects.   Grady’s contest is being administered by Art Teacher, Lauren Niedergang (email: [email protected]).  Students in grades 3-5 have been preparing an art work that is suitable for submission in the contest.  It is the choice of each student, pending the permission of his/her parents, to submit a piece of art work into the Grady Reflections Art Contest.  Mrs. Niedergang has the student entry form and will send them home for your signature, but a printable extra copy may be found here: Reflections Student Entry Form.  Ms. Niedergang is also accepting submissions of visual arts (meaning ceramics, collages, photo collages with all original photos, and drawings and paintings) on or before October 23.  Only one entry per student, so if your student submits a separate entry, the art made during Mrs. Niedergang's class will not be submitted.  Paper works of art must be mounted on sturdy material like a cardboard mat, but may not be framed.  Although this contest is focused on grades 3-5, Ms. Niedergang is accepting entries from any Grady student, regardless of the grade of the student.  First, Second and Third Place ribbons will be awarded and every student's contribution will be celebrated.  There will be an ice cream party in the Art Room on November 4 from 1:30 to 2 pm to celebrate the student artists.  If you are able to volunteer to help serve ice cream at the party, please email Ellen Lyons at [email protected]

The rules for submissions are here: Reflections Rules
