Grady families and friends, please join us for Grady's Fall Festival on Friday, October 23, from 5 pm until 7:30 pm on campus.  The festival will feature games, free crafts, hair/face painting, two amazing inflatable bouncers (an obstacle course and a regular bounce house), a bake sale, and a crazy photo booth.  Admission to the event is free, but the games are $1/ticket/game.  Wristbands for unlimited games can be purchased in advance via a form that will be sent home from school.  To learn more about how to volunteer, please contact VP of Volunteers, Chely Sierra at [email protected]. To learn more about the event, including how to become a vendor at the event or how to display your product/service at a vendor table, please contact VP of Events, Elizabeth Weekes, at [email protected].

This Friday, October 2 is the first Fifth Grade Doughnut Sale!  Krispy Kreme doughnuts will be sold in the front of the school next to the flag pole.  Doughnuts are $7/dozen or $1 each.  Cash, check or credit card accepted.  Proceeds benefit the fifth grade end-of-year banquet.  Please help support our Fifth Grade and stop by for doughnuts this Friday!

Earning for Learning is from September 7 – October 4, at WestShore Plaza.  Grady Elementary is qualified to win up to $3,500 this contest.  Grady is one of only 12 schools that can win in Earning for Learning, so we stand a great chance of winning. Grady Elementary was an Earning for Learning grand prize winner in 2013 and 2014.  This contest is also great for us because it is the ratio of our spending to our student population that will determine if we win.  That means that bigger schools can’t automatically win just based on total purchases.

This year the contest rules are different.  There are 2 ways to win - point based competition and online voting.

With the Points contest, prizes will be given to schools whose parents and benefactors obtain the most Points at WestShore Plaza.  $1 = 1 point, generally.  Points are earned by submitting receipts for ANY establishment in the mall (food court, movie theater, Macy’s and all stores) to the Guest Services Counter next to Macy’s.  Purchases must be made between September 7 and September 27.  Purchases made on Mondays and Tuesdays get double points.   Submit your receipts from ANY WestShore Plaza establishment (even those Starbucks purchases – every bit counts!)  to Guest Services before 6 pm September 27.  You may also donate school supplies for a specified amount of points (e.g. a box of pencils = 10 points). See a complete list of supplies, each worth 10 points, here:  Special Points.  The school supplies will support students at Metropolitan Ministries’ school.

With Online Voting, please use your Facebook Page to VOTE ONCE A DAY for Grady Elementary.  A link to the Facebook page is here:  https://www.facebook.com/WestShorePlaza.   Please put the voting page on your personal Facebook page and encourage your friends to vote daily for Grady.

A full summary of the official rules is below.  Thank you for supporting Grady!  Please participate in this contest.

Rules:

Point Based Competition:

- Total of $7,500 given away to 3 schools.  1st place is $3500, 2nd place is $2500 and 3rd place is $1500.

- When receipts are submitted to Guest Services, every dollar spent will equal 1 point toward your school.

- There will be double point opportunities that will be communicated via social media, the website and/or email.  A few things are always double points - like when you shop on Mondays and Tuesdays or the purchase of a WestShore Plaza Gift Card.   Please note that turning in receipts on a Monday or Tuesday doesn't make it double points, only purchases made on Monday's or Tuesday's are double points.

Online Voting Competition:

- One winner will receive $500.

- The school with the most votes wins.

- Voting will take place on WestShore Plaza's Facebook Page, the tab titled 'VOTE Here for Earning for Learning' will be live at 12:01 am Monday, September 7th through 11:59 pm September 27th.  You may vote daily during the competition.   https://www.facebook.com/WestShorePlaza

- You will be able to share that you have voted on your own social media pages or share the link to encourage others to vote.

Non Profit Donation of School Supplies:

There is additional way to earn points, with donating school supplies that will benefit the children of Metropolitan Ministries.   Please visit the link below to see the list of school supplies.  Each item on the list will be worth 10 points.  Donations are not eligible for Double Points.
