There will be NO SPANISH CLUB on either Tuesday April 21 OR Thursday April 23 due to a family emergency experienced by the Spanish Club teacher.   Our ASE Club Coordinator, Moni Sears at [email protected], will contact Spanish Club members’ parents with additional information about Spanish Club.  Spanish Club is expected to resume on Tuesday, April 28.    We are very sorry for this inconvenience.

Mr. Florio will be holding auditions for this year’s Spring Musical, titled “How to Be a Pirate: In Seven Easy Songs." The Show will be on Wednesday, May 13th.

• Participating students must maintain grades and keep acceptable behavior goals to be considered for roles.
• This permission slip linked below under "Related Files" must be signed and returned at the time of the audition.
• Students in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Grade will audition on Thursday, April 16th, at 8:10 a.m.
• Students in 4th and 5th Grade will audition on Thursday, April 16th, at 1:10 p.m.
• The cast will be announced on the Morning Show, on Friday, April 17th.
• Students who earn acting parts will also receive scripts that day. Students will be expected to have their part learned and memorized by the end of April.

Due to popular demand, we have added a second day of Spanish Club. Spanish Club will occur on its original date, Thursday, April 16 and every Thursday thereafter. A second Spanish Club is being added and it will run on Tuesdays from April 21 until May 26. We do have five additional spots in the Tuesday Spanish Club, so if your child is interested in joining Spanish Club on Tuesdays, please send in the application and a check for $72 to join the Tuesday Spanish Club program. We expect this second Spanish Club to fill up very quickly, so please do not delay in returning your application to school.

Grady Elementary PTA is offering a limited edition Grady Tiger 3” x 2” Key Chain.  One of these Tiger Key Chains is FREE when 2 people from your family join Grady Elementary PTA for the 2015-2016 school year

After joining next year’s PTA, members can purchase additional Key Chains for $6 each.

Spanish Club for Kindergarten to Third Graders starts April 16 and continues each Thursday thereafter until May 21.  Spanish Club will take place from 2:30 pm until 3:30 pm on campus.  Spanish Club will be taught by Alicia Campos.  Alicia was born in Spain and has a Master’s degree in Education from Harvard University.  She has been teaching art and Spanish for many years.  Some of you will know her as the artist who painted the painting of Ms. Adams’ class for the Winter Concert silent auction.  Her class will not only teach the Spanish language but also Spanish art, culture and music.  To sign up for Spanish Club, please print the form linked below, and send it to school with the payment of $72.  Please make checks payable to Grady Elementary PTA. 

When filling out club sign-up forms, Please be very clear about how your child will be dismissed from the club at 3:30 pm, because the line checked for the type of dismissal will be the only way we will dismiss your child from a club.  If you want to make any change to how your child goes home or is dismissed once a club has started, you must notify both the school and our ASE Club Coordinator, Moni Sears at [email protected] in order to change the form of dismissal.  

Grady Elementary Lights It Up Blue for World Autism Awareness Day!  See our entire school join hands in support of our students, friends and neighbors with autism or on the autism spectrum.  April is World Autism Awareness Month and we participate because Grady Elementary supports autism inclusion and acceptance in the classroom and beyond.  Grady Elementary is also joining hands to support autism awareness by holding a coloring contest and participating in the Autism Speaks Walk on April 11, 2015.

Light it Up Blue is a unique global initiative to raise awareness about autism.  In support of Light it Up Blue, Grady students will be participating in a special event to support autism awareness.  Please have your students wear blue to school on Thursday, April 2 to show their support!

Thank you to all the people who came by to purchase Happy Spring Egg Grams on Monday and Tuesday.  All the proceeds, more than $230.00 currently, go to the fifth grade for their banquet and year-end festivities. 

Please remember to have Grady students wear blue this Thursday to support Light it Up Blue for Autism Awareness.  Grady will be lighting it up blue in a very special way!
