Tiger Talk Update: PTA Expenditures

Grady PTA has, as of yesterday, funded over $2,000 towards the following items for teachers and students:  Scholastic “Science Spin,” “Let’s Find Out,” and “Storyworks” magazines for students in ASD K-1, Third, Fourth and Fifth Grades;  12 Kindle reading devices for Fourth Grade, the BrainPop educational app/software for use of students in ASD K-5; inflation equipment for the physical education program, chair pockets for Ms. Hero’s students, and an updated TV studio backdrop for the Morning Show.  The Scholastic magazines we purchased are aligned to common core standards and provide additional fictional stories as well as non-fiction for students to read.  They also offer vocabulary and grammar instruction and have online resources.  Thank you to our Grady teachers for researching these educational tools and asking us to fund them.   Grady PTA’s purpose is to fund these educational enhancements. Teachers, please keep the ideas for new educational tools coming.

The Homeroom Parents meeting is set for Monday, September 26 at 8:00 AM in the Teacher’s Lounge.  Please contact Lead Homeroom Parent, Alisha Nelson, with any questions at [email protected].

Great American Teach In will take place on campus during the school day on Thursday, November 17. Teach In is for adults to bring their talents to the classroom, by sharing hobbies or career information with our students.  It’s also a great way to get a sense of the work your child’s teacher does every day.  To register to teach at Teach In, please click here, print out, fill out and return this form  in your child’s backpack/folder.  Form:   Great American Teach In Registration Form.

Book Fair, Sept. 26 to Oct. 3

Our Scholastic Book Fair is a reading event that provides the books kids want to read. It's a wonderful selection of engaging and affordable books for every reading level.

Reading for pleasure inside and outside of school has real and long-lasting benefits. It unlocks the power of information and imagination and helps children discover who they are. Please make plans to come to our Book Fair and be involved in shaping your child's reading habits.

Second Grade Brownies Meeting on September 29

The 2nd grade Brownies will have their first meeting Thursday, September 29th at 6:15pm in Grady's school cafeteria.  All interested 2nd grade girls are welcome to join our troop for the first meeting!  Please park and drop off along Church Avenue by the school cafeteria.  Contact Jessica Sandoval at [email protected] if you have any questions.

 

Tiger Talk Update: Family Week At Firehouse Subs!

This week is Family Week at Firehouse Subs, located at 2227 S. Dale Mabry Hwy, near Plant High School.  From 4 pm until 8 pm each evening between now and Friday,  Firehouse Subs will give 20% of all gross sales back to Grady.  Be sure to mention you are from Grady Elementary School when ordering.

PDQ Art & Family Night, September 14, 4 to 8 pm

Please join Grady families on September 14 from 4-8 pm at PDQ, located at 2207 S Dale Mabry Hwy, Tampa, FL 33629 (near Plant High School) for an evening of student art and family fun.  Student art will be displayed on the walls of PDQ from 4 pm until 8 pm and PDQ will be giving back a portion of the proceeds to Grady.  Please make sure to mention Grady Elementary at the counter when ordering.

Tiger Talk Update: Clubs

Grady’s Grandparents’ Breakfast is being held over two days, Thursday (for students with last name A-I) and Friday (students last name H-Z) from 7:15 am until 8 am in the cafeteria.  Grandparents, please come enjoy coffee, muffins and perhaps a visit to your grandchild’s classroom. 

Friday is Patriot’s Day, and students are welcome to wear red, white & blue to school.

Grady Art & Family Night is set to occur on September 14 from 4 pm until 8pm.  Enjoy student art, PDQ and know that a portion of your purchase will benefit Grady.  We need volunteers to help display the art at PDQ from 12:45 pm until 1:45 pm on Wednesday, September 14 (you will be finished in time to be at the school for car line pick up) and volunteers to help take down the art from 8:00 pm until 8:30 pm on the same day.  If you can please spare some time to help set up or take down the art for this wonderful event, please reply to this email or email [email protected].
